Hi, I’m Katie—some call me Kate, others Katie May. Maybe you’ll come to know me as your personal bread baker 😉.

Life at our home - bakery, is always buzzing. Jed and I have three teenagers still living at home and one studying at Vanderbilt University. I’m a songwriter and musician, playing guitar and keyboards in a local band. I also work at an engineering and architecture consulting firm. Jed is full-time private guitar instructor, which means our home is not only filled with the warmth of fresh-baked bread but also the sound of music. So how did I start baking bread? It all began in September 2023, when I asked myself: if our ancestors made their own bread, could I? At first, it seemed intimidating. But the long list of ingredients on the label of a loaf of bread from the grocery store was so concerning that it became my motivation.

I discovered the simplicity of real bread—just a few basic ingredients. I committed.

Fast forward to just over a year later, and I’ve baked over 300 loaves! What started as a personal challenge has become a true passion. I’ve shared my bread with family, friends, the band, co-workers, community, and the response has been amazing. Though I never planned to sell my bread, so many people encouraged me to do it, and here we are.

Every loaf is made with care, love, and a long fermentation process to bring out the best flavors and health benefits. I hope my bread brings a little joy to your table, just as it has to mine.
